Economic Development Summit Panel to Discuss 'Create' in Hollywood at ArcLight, June 22nd

Hollywood “Create” panel will address how place making can revitalize a neighborhood at the 2017 Hollywood Economic Development Summit, taking place on Thursday, June 22nd, at the ArcLight Hollywood. The theme for this year’s conference is “Building a Livable Hollywood.” During the conference, attendees will also hear from two keynote speakers: Vince Bertoni, Director of Planning for the City of Los Angeles; and David Sloane, USC Urban Planning Department. "Create" panelists will include leaders of Relevant Group Richard Heyman and Grant King. Angela Babcock of Stratiscope will moderate.

As a managing partner of the Relevant Group, Richard Heyman leads development and construction for the firm. He has over 30 years of experience building high end, high-concept hospitality projects, including restaurants, nightclubs and entertainment venues, several of which have been in Hollywood. Having started his career as a hospitality developer and general contractor, he understands the formula of a successful project. The Relevant Group works with some of the most prestigious brands in the hospitality space, including Dream Hotels, TAO Group, and Thompson Hotels, among others.

Grant King is the Managing Partner of the Relevant Group, a Los Angeles-based luxury real estate development firm. He leads strategy, development and financing of each of their projects and has over 20 years of real estate development, finance and investment experience. He moved to China to establish the company’s first overseas office in 2012. He also leads the fundraising efforts for the Relevant Group in both the U.S. and in China. He founded New American Financial in 1998 and sold the company in 2002.

Moderator Angela Babcock is an Idaho transplant. She has worked for two L.A. mayors and two L.A. city council members as a policy advisor, community representative, and business development specialist. Through her work for then-Councilmember Eric Garcetti, Angela worked with community organizations and business owners to make EaCa Alley, L.A.’s first public pedestrian alley a reality. As Director of Community Engagement for Stratiscope, she advise clients on how they can work in communities to make positive change while supporting business growth goals. She also launched their Activate Hollywood initiative.
