State of Hollywood with Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell
Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, representing the 13th Council District, will have a lot to report at his sixth State of Hollywood address at Taglyan Complex on Thursday, January 17th. The annual luncheon will be presented by Variety and the Hollywood Museum in the Historic Max Factor Building.
“Every year, we encourage people to make their reservations early,” said Chamber President & CEO Rana Ghadban. “This event is usually a sell-out, and we expect the same this year.”
Join us for networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon at 12 noon. Admission is $90 for Chamber members. Prime tables with signage can be reserved for $800. Reserve at hollywoodchamber.net/events.
Councilmember O’Farrell will be discussing his Heart of Hollywood initiative and some of the highlights of his year during 2018.
O’Farrell has built a solid reputation as a councilmember who understands the importance of maintaining a healthy business climate. He led the fight to ensure that the City Council considered business impacts before voting to raise the minimum wage. He was the first councilman to go on the record opposing Measure S, the Neighborhood Integrity Initiative, that would have slapped a building moratorium on Los Angeles. He is working to create opportunities for more affordable housing, and also championed reforms to help small, neighborhood businesses that drive the local economy. He is also leading the effort to get a new community plan adopted for Hollywood.
The Councilman’s district is the most diverse in the City, including the neighborhoods of Atwater Village, East Hollywood, Echo Park, Elysian Valley, Glassell Park, Historic Filipinotown, Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire/Koreatown, Rampart Village, and Silverlake.
He understands the importance of Hollywood, its history, and its brand as a unique, one-of-a-kind, world-famous destination. He is working to enhance Hollywood’s reputation as a world-class neighborhood in which to live, do business, and visit. He promotes it as an economic driver for the rest of L.A., as the entertainment capital of the world, and as a worldwide destination for tourists.
