About Us
Established in 1962, Theatre West is an internationally acclaimed non profit arts organization and the oldest continually running theatre company in the city of Los Angeles. Their world class productions have won numerous awards and have toured both sides of the Atlantic, including the Edinburgh and Dublin Festivals, as well as Canada, New York City, Atlanta, South Carolina, Seattle, San Francisco, and throughout California.
Over the years, Theatre West’s plays have transferred to Broadway (Spoon River Anthology, Aesop in Central Park), to feature films (A Bronx Tale, Faithful) and have been published (Acting: The First Six Lessons, Thicker Than Water, Moose On The Loose). LA Parent Magazine’s recent parent survey ranked Theatre West's Storybook Theatre as the No. 1 Children’s Theatre in Southern California. Theatre West provides weekly workshops for Professional Actors and Playwrights, runs an in-school teaching program, offers field trips to children in underserved communities, and does outreach to local organizations such as AADAP (Asian American Drug Abuse Program).
Some of Hollywood’s brightest lights have made Theatre West their artistic home, including Betty Garrett, Lee Meriwether, Richard Dreyfuss, Carroll O’Connor, Harold Gould, Beau Bridges, Martin Landau, Bridget Hanley, Jim Beaver, Kelly Stables, and Chazz Palminteri.
