Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation Presents More Than 21K in Grants to Local Organizations

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation presented grants to 16 local community organizations on January 30th during its Business After Hours mixer hosted at Soul Restaurant & Bar. One of Hollywood’s hottest venues at 7046 Hollywood Boulevard, the newly-opened Soul restaurant showcased their southern hospitality to a packed house full of Chamber members. Dr Fariba Kalantari, Chair of the Hollywood Chamber Community Foundation, presented at total of $21,750 in the form of grants to 16 community-based organizations in Hollywood.
 
Blind Children’s Center of America received a check in the amount of $2,500 towards funding for Therapeutic Services Program for blind children. The Center at Blessed Sacrament received a check in the amount of $2,500 towards funding for Women’s Day Program, which serves homeless women. The Center is dedicated to ending isolation and homelessness in Hollywood. Learn more at http://thecenterinhollywood.org
 
Empowered Gifts received a check in the amount of $1,000 towards funding for Career Apprenticeship Program for new equipment. The organization is dedicated to empowering disadvantaged women and victims of domestic abuse by providing them support, education, economic opportunities. The Gabriella Foundation received a check in the amount of $1,000 towards funding for end of year Production “everybody dance” part of after school program. The Gabriella Foundation aims to improve children self-esteem, sense of self-efficacy, and overall physical fitness through high-quality dance instruction and artistic expression. Hollywood Fringe Festival received a check in the amount of $1,000 towards funding for Festival expenses. Los Angeles Police Department Hollywood Division received a check in the amount of $2,500 towards funding for renovation of Roll Call Room at Hollywood Station. The LAPD Hollywood Division works tirelessly to help keep Hollywood a safer place to live, work and play.

Let’s Play Hollywood Foundation received a check in the amount of $750 towards funding for After School Program for workshops for high school students. RaiseAChild, Inc. received a check in the amount of $1,000 for their upcoming November 2018 Adoption Event. The Organization aims to recruit and support LGBTQ and all prospective parents interested in building families through fostering and adopting to meet the needs of children within the foster care system. Sages & Seekers received a check in the amount of $500 towards funding for costs of Experiential Pop Event. The Organization strives to combat social isolation and dissolve age-related segregation within our communities, while meeting the universal and compelling need of both young adults and elders to make sense of their lives. The Salvation Army - The Way In Youth Shelter received a check in the amount of $1,000 towards funding for bedding sets, hygiene kits for The Way In Oxford Independent Living Complex. The Organization strives to help children escape the street-life and provide a home-like environment in which abused, neglected teenagers could live safely as they mature into productive and independent young adults. St. Barnabas Senior Services received a check in the amount of $500 towards funding for Arts Program for Senior in Hollywood. Applications for grants from the Hollywood Chamber Community Organization are accepted twice a year with the deadlines at the end of May and the end of October. To be eligible to apply, non-profits should be members of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This member benefit is one of the unique features of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in its efforts to support local community organizations through its Community Foundation. As a 501c3 nonprofit association, contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. Since its inception in 1996 up until the end of 2017, The Hollywood Chamber Foundation has awarded more than $836,000 in grants towards Hollywood non-profits.
