Our HERO Pink’s Hot Dogs is a 77-year-old landmark hot dog stand located at La Brea and Melrose in Hollywood. Pink’s was started in 1939 by Paul and Betty Pink with a pushcart they purchased for $50. The land on which the pushcart stood was leased for $15 per month; hot dogs at that time were 10 cents. In 1941, Paul and Betty acquired the land through a bank loan for $4,000. In 1946, Pink’s hot dog stand was built. Paul and Betty operated the hot dog stand until 1985 when they retired and turned over the business to their family: Richard, Gloria, and Beverly.
Today, Pink’s attracts customers and tourists to Hollywood from around the globe. The hot dog stand is widely known for its unique atmosphere, variety of hot dogs, and Celebrity Wall of Fame. The dining room is famously filled with over 200 autographed photos of Hollywood celebrities who love Pink’s!
Appearances in movies, television, the Food Network, the Travel Channel, and travel books about Los Angeles make Pink’s a top Hollywood destination. Pink’s brandishes the tagline “A Hollywood Legend Since 1939” in 15 locations including Las Vegas, San Diego, New York, Miami, Hawaii, and the Philippines.
Beyond bringing attention to Hollywood, Pink’s Hot Dogs has a charitable program called “Chili Dogs for Charity” that generously donates hot dogs and services to local and national charities including the Concern Foundation and Planned Parenthood. Hollywood organizations that have benefited include the Hollywood Boys and Girls Club, the Hollywood Division Police Department, Hollywood Fire Department, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Hollywood High School.

Since 1993 the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation has saluted more than 125 extraordinary leaders from Hollywood, through what was previously named the Women of Distinction Awards. Since 2011, the awards have honored both male and female leaders, as well as families, businesses and organizations. The awards ceremony serves as one of two major fundraisers for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving the lives of Hollywood community members. All funds raised from this luncheon will be awarded in the form of grants to local charitable organizations. “Heroes of Hollywood” Awards Committee is comprised of members of the Hollywood Chamber who are volunteers and have proven to be community leaders themselves.
