Ruiz and City Staff Answer Questions about the Upcoming Minimum Wage Hike and Paid Sick Leave
Employer Requirements effective July 1st are as follows:
1. Employer must pay hourly minimum wage and provide paid sick leave for hours worked within the geographic boundaries of the City.
2. Employer must post the Office of Wage Standards Wage Notices in a conspicuous place at any workplaces or job sites in English, Spanish, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Hindi, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Armenian, Russian and Farsi, and any other language spoken by at least five percent (5%) of the Employees at the workplace or job site.
3. Employer must keep payroll records for four (4) years.
4. Employer must provide employees with the Employer's name, address, and telephone number in writing at the time of hire.
Retaliation against any Employee exercising rights under the Minimum Wage and Office of Wage Standards Ordinances is prohibited.
Ruiz is an author, professor, inspirational speaker, leadership expert and an executive coach. She has received over 50 accolades and awards for her leadership and service to Los Angeles. She currently serves as a Los Angeles City Commissioner overseeing a multibillion-dollar pension portfolio for City employees. Ruiz is a consultant for the City of Los Angeles targeting the business community with information on the City of Los Angeles minimum wage and paid sick leave requirements.
The poster needs to be placed in all businesses and includes information on the minimum wage and paid sick leave.
